Acoustic AI

This Experiment proposes the development of an acoustic AI tool that is able to detect the incomplete connection of electrical click-type plugs. This click-detection AI tool will be implemented into our manufacturing process. Human AI interaction will be used for worker feedback. The proposed tool will increase production yield by decreasing product failure due to faulty electrical connections. Consequently, it will decrease downtime, high repair cost and recall actions.

Click-type electrical plugs rely on human press force for an correct assembly. They are often not fully pressed and connected in an in-correct manner. The connector can loosen over time and cause a faulty electrical connection. Especially plugs that require multiple and time-consuming disassembly steps will cause significant downtime, high repair cost and/or recalls.

Gable systems BV is located in the Netherlands and developer of medical devices and sensors. In our case, the high complexity and reliability demands of our medical device are the reason why connector failure must be prevented by all means. Moreover, connector failure is seen in many sectors and has a particular high impact in mass production sectors such as the automotive. Therefore the proposed “click-detection AI tool” will be of high value outside the borders of our company. The AI tool and dataset will be made available through the AI4REGIO on-demand platform.
