The MAINSTREAM experiment will address the following main objective: to design, build and deliver a highly flexible, available, and resilient manufacturing platform capable to accommodate the global technological transformation that has taken place. The envisioned platform is aimed to play the role of the factory operating system (OS) with the goal of boosting the adoption of modern software stack while enabling the data-driven manufacturing solutions and supporting next generation of MES/MOM software.

The MAINSTREAM platform will be used as the basis for establishing and supporting a sustainable ecosystem of novel decentralized automation solutions for the factories of the future.

The platform will be built around five main pillars: a) Process Standardization; b) Performance Management; c) Improvement Management; d) Flow Management; and e) Capability.
